Indirect Heat Gas Grill Ribs
Cover the grill and cook the ribs for approximately two hours.
Indirect heat gas grill ribs. Set the meat bone side down off to one side. For a gas grill turn off one or two of the center burners and reduce the remaining burners to medium low. You will need a way to check and monitor the surface temperature of the grill where the ribs will be cooking. With a gas grill this is very simple.
You will be using indirect heat meaning the meat will not be directly over the burners. The food is placed on a rack in a roasting pan and the roasting pan is set on the grill rack. Not to bad so far. You want your grill to be at medium low heat or 250 degrees.

Drip pans are required for foods that have juices such as roasts and ribs. Spare ribs are generally larger than baby back ribs but they have a higher bone to meat ratio.
The temperature should be about 325 degrees f. You ll place your ribs over the unheated portion of the grill. How to set up your grill for indirect heat open the lid of your gas grill and make sure all control knobs are in the off position. First preheat a clean grill to medium heat about 200 f then oil the grill.
To create indirect heat either pile the charcoal on one side or light only one part of the grill. If you are considering cooking outside during the summer then try grilling spare ribs on your gas grill. Grill covered over indirect medium heat for 30 minutes on each side. Transfer the ribs.
The lid of the gas grill is closed for grilling. This is not a hood thermometer. Oil the grill first. Do not place it directly over the heat.
While your ribs are sitting preheat the grill and set it up for indirect grilling. Spare ribs require a lot of preparation and cooking time. Cook each side of the meat for 30 minutes applying marinade several times. If you are a charcoal fan move the coals to sides of the grill while leaving a hole in the middle.
Do not check on the ribs for. Indirect heating turns your grill into an oven. Slowly open the valve on your propane tank all the way or turn on the gas at the source and then wait a minute for the gas to travel through the gas line. The ribs become tender once they cook on a gas grill for several hours.
All grills are different but you will need to learn this for your grill for this and other recipes. Place the ribs right on the grill using tongs to maneuver them into place. Now let your ribs sit out and get to room temperature which should take about 20 to 30 minutes. Grill over indirect heat for one method cooking.
Preheat a grill to medium high and prepare for indirect grilling.
